Odd But Effective Ways to Get Over a Breakup

Getting over a breakup takes time, tears, and lots and lots of ice cream (or pizza or cookies or *insert your favorite comfort food here), but if you want to try something new, here are four interesting strategies real girls swear by!

 2  Read the newspaper.

Use the news as a useful distraction. Instead of going on Facebook (and probably seeing him with a new girl), check the news for current events. Doing this doesn't just help you steer clear of the lovey-dovey couples on your timeline, but also prevents you from stumbling across posts that could break your heart.

3  Explore the world around you.

Try getting lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood or book a plane ticket to a place you've always wanted to go to. Taking a trip can serve as a reminder that there are other exciting things out there waiting for you. Adventure awaits.

  4  Scrub the floors.

You'd be surprised at how effective doing the household chores is at mending broken hearts. Aside from helping you release your hurt and angercleaning your floors requires aggressive scrubbingit also takes your mind off your ex and allows you to set a goal that's easy to accomplish, giving you a sense of fulfillment after the task is done. Plus, you can also spend some time helping your mom.
