Yes, in case you didn't know or in case you thought this doesn't happen anymore, we still get a lot of pressure from the people around us to be in a relationship. It's hard to imagine that because we've been pushing for equal rights among men and women, and yet we still think that there's something wrong when a girl isn't attached yet.

And yes, we also know that we don't have to take them to heart all the time. However, there are just moments when we're vulnerable and we overthink a lot of things about our lives. So to help you deal with the constant pressure from the people around you, here's a list we've prepared for you on how you can just ignore what other people think and tell you.

  1. Answer their questions with a smile.

We know it's hard to face questions about where your boyfriend is or whether you're in a relationship already or not during reunions. That's why we dread going to them! However, you don't really have to answer all their questions. You have the right to explain, but you also have the right to not to talk to them about things you'd rather keep to yourself—like your relationships. If you don't want to talk about it, tell them and answer them with a smile. Don't apologize, just say you'd rather not talk about it.

  1. Give your best to your passions.

You are passionate about a lot of things and you have a list of things you'd want to try, for sure. While you're still single and while you still have control over your own time, spend it wisely and productively by doing the things you'd want to do. And while you're at it, give them your best shot, too.

  1. Do whatever it is you want to do.

Want to try hiking or running a marathon or writing your own book? Go ahead and try doing them. If you want to design your own clothes or DIY your makeup, go and try doing those things. Use this time of being single and unattached for productivity. Who knows, you may find something that you'd love doing for the rest of your life and pursuing as a career.

Most of all, the best response is to just continue living your life.

Who cares if you're unattached? We're not required to be in a relationship to be able to live our lives to the fullest and enjoy all the beautiful things around us. We're young and we're allowed to make mistakes and spend our time learning things—with or without a partner.
