When BuzzFeed came out with this article describing what life was like in 2006 (10 years ago!) and we saw a few of Candy's pages on the list, we decided to revisit our old issues and show you more of that decade—the guys we've had a crush on at that time, for example. We searched through the pages of our 2006 issues and found the 13 local celebrities (and a few hilarious things, but that's for another story, hehe!) we were crushing on back then.

Sam was also one of our favorite Candy Cuties. Aside from constantly gracing our pages, he also gave us a tour of his home and let us in on what he does on a daily basis back then. Today, Sam still sings and acts. His album Infinite is already out, and he played Jasmine Curtis's alternate for the play #NoFilter last year.

Before James Reid, we had Pinoy Big Brother housemate Gerald making girls go crazy during that year. This guy from General Santos City was our main man for the Candy Cuties issue that year. These days, Gerald shows his acting chops on TV and in movies. He starred in projects like Budoy, Nathaniel, On the Job, and most recently, in Everyday I Love You.

July 2006, Anything Goes
Back then, it was still a bit difficult to get photos of our favorite celebrities, which is why Candy Girls asked for wallet-sized photos in our section Anything Goes. Matteo was just starting out in the biz that year and he was still more known as a racer back then. This year, he is set to star on Dolce Amore with Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil.

Japoy Lizardo
August 2006, Council of Cool mini-mag
In 2006, we were also crazy about taekwondo star Japoy. The members of that year's Candy Council of Cool got to interview him for their mini-mag. Just last year, Japoy quit from the Philippine team after the return of his old leg injury.
