This Filipina-Japanese Beauty Queen Was Miss Universe Japan 2020

Born in the Philippines, Yuki moved to Japan at 10 years old.

It's a known fact that many third culture kids compete in the pageant world, which ultimately becomes a platform for them to celebrate their diverse ethnicity in their own unique ways (case in point: our very own Filipina-Australian Miss Universe Catriona Gray, who always champions inclusivity in her advocacies).

Another beauty queen with Pinoy roots to watch for is Yuki Sonoda, who was Miss Universe Japan 2020.

Born in the Philippines, Yuki moved to Japan at 10 years old (her mom is from Montalban, Rizal) where she grew up and eventually attended law school.

The Rikkyo University alum says however, that pageants will always be her first love. She would even watch Binibining Pilipinas pageants as a kid! She started competing professionally at 19 years old, and even finished third runner up in her first pageant.
