The Blank Slate
We've prepared a list of bite-sized goals that are all part of bigger visions for yourself. So turn over a new leaf and follow these lifeplans as you venture out into greater horizons in your life’s journey.
Lifeplan 1: I will feed my mind.
Set aside time to declutter your room because a messy environment sometimes indicates a messy life. A cleaner room will help you study better and think more clearly.
Be in the know, because the world is charged with amazing things you have yet to discover. Read the papers, watch indie films, and engage in intellectual talks with your peers.
Don’t take things sitting down if you notice something is wrong. Contrary to popular notions, the smartest people are not only the ones who excel in school, but are also those who stand up for their beliefs.
Plato had Socrates. Anakin Skywalker had Obi-Wan Kenobi. Find yourself a mentor who will share with you nuggets of wisdom earned over the years.
List down your own goals.
Lifeplan 2: I will love my body.
Treat yourself to one day of pure relaxation. You’ll feel more rejuvenated and ready to face the demands in school.
Cut back on caffeine and carbonated drinks. Opt for healthy juices instead.
Laugh more. Studies show that laughing boosts your immunity and is even a healing activity!
Explore uncommon hobbies and interests like land-kiting, kneeboarding, pole-dancing, and Bikram Yoga. These activities give you a rush of energy that can help you battle the daily grind in school.
List down your own goals.
Lifeplan 3: I will spread the love.
If someone does you a favor, pay it forward. Do one good deed a day and ask those you’ve helped to pass on the practice.
Pick one specific cause and devote your time to promoting it. There is no kind of fulfillment like being a blessing to others.
Make a list of the things you’ve been putting off, then get on your feet and start doing them. You may want to start slowly, but most of all, resolve to just start and hit the ground running.
Make it a habit to tell the people you care about that you love them.
List down your own goals.
Lifeplan 4: I will enrich my soul.
Every day, list at least five things you are thankful for. This is key to being grateful—a common trait among happy people.
Identify 10 places you want to visit in your lifetime and cut out photos of these places from magazines or print photos from the Net. Doing this will help concretize your vision more.
Find a “life theme” and encapsulate it in a few phrases. This will be what you will try to live by from here on.
Believe in the power of your dreams. God wouldn’t put a desire in your heart that won’t come true.
