Staying home all day during the community quarantine can result in cabin fever, which then leaves us with the desire to reorganize and redecorate our personal spaces. After all, it may be embarrassing to join Zoom calls with a messy room as your background, but it can also be disheartening to see aesthetic room ideas on Tiktok and Pinterest. Honestly, having a flawlessly arranged and picture-perfect room isn’t the be-all and end-all of you quarantine life. Here are some reasons why.
You have other things to spend your money on.
Not all of us have the budget to carry out a grand scheme to redecorate our room. Maybe you have more important things to spend your money on, like school supplies, groceries, and skincare. We all have different priorities, and it’s completely normal if an aesthetic room isn’t at the top of your to-do list. More importantly, your budget is your business, so you do you!
Messy rooms are sometimes a sign of creativity.
Research once suggested that working on a messy desk can allow people to come up with more creative ideas. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should mess up your room purposely, but this might just reassure those who remain unbothered by an untidy space. Like what Albert Einstein once said, “If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what are we to think of an empty desk?”
You have your own organization system
Your room may look like a chaotic mess to others, but it’s a completely organized system to you. Sometimes, organizing your room will cause you to forget about where certain items are located because the system you’ve built for yourself is disrupted. So if your room’s current arrangement already works for you, don’t feel pressured to alter it simply for aesthetic reasons.
It’s aesthetically pleasing to you
Needless to say, everyone has different taste. Although other people may not see your room as a vision of beauty, it’s only your opinion that truly matters at the end of the day. This is your personal space and you call the shots. So go ahead and decorate (or not decorate) your room however you like.
