ICYDK, the University of the Philippines Diliman recently conferred summa cum laude honors to a record-high 147 graduates this year. Among those intelligent fresh graduates are twin sisters Margaret Esther Cruz and Madelyn Esther Cruz, who received their diplomas together last July 31.
What’s more, Margaret and Madelyn were so exceptional that they graduated after only *three years* instead of four. They even took up the same BS Mathematics degree!
According to a Facebook post from Kumon Valenzuela Center, Margaret and Madelyn were already studying long division as early as kindergarten. That means they were already skilled in algebra and trigonometry before they even entered middle school.
Apparently, they also had to balance their academics with extra-curricular activities like piano lessons and art classes. Wow!
The twins then went on to study high school at the Philippine Science High School, where both received high honors for their knowledge of science and math. Apart from regularly competing in international math competitions, the twins also received the Youth Excellence in Science and Math Award from the Department of Science and Technology for four consecutive years.
Now that they’ve completed their undergraduate studies, they’re setting their sights on pursuing further education. While Margaret is planning to stay at UP Diliman for her master’s degree, Madelyn will take up a doctorate degree in Michigan, America under a scholarship grant.
Congrats, Margaret and Madelyn!
