We know what you're thinking, "not another dateless Valentine's Day". Maybe you've been single forever or you've just gotten out of a relationship (or an almost relationship), and we understand that you have all the right reasons to hate this day. But before you take out that "Anti-Valentine's Day" shirt or before you wallow in bitterness while eating your weight in chocolate, please hear us out.

Don't mope around because you don't have someone to spend this day with. Stop being sorry for yourself, thinking that you are alone, because you are not. Stop thinking that something's wrong with you because you are amazing. Stop trying to fix yourself because you are not broken. You're whole, complete, and never lacking. You are enough and you are loved, dearly. Stop thinking that you're less-than because you deserve more than that. We know this day can make you feel insecure, lonely, and worthless, but hear this: you are loved, not just today but every day. We want you to realize that Valentine's day is no different than any other day of your life. You are loved and you matter, so don't let this one day make you think otherwise. Don't let today defeat you and all the love inside you. Yes, couples are painting the town red tonight, but that doesn't mean you can't do it just because you don't have a date. We want you to know that your personality is enough to color even the grayest of cities. We want you to embrace the fact that you don't need a guy to feel valued and special. You don't need a guy to make this day count, trust us.

Don't get us wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with dreaming for the kind of love that takes your breath away. We all crave for love that makes us feel like everything is right in the world, a love that consumes us, the kind that we're never the same person because of it, the love we share with the person knows us by heart. Often times we get too caught up in search for that kind of love that we fail to see the people who love us unconditionally even when we feel like we're unworthy of love, the people who we never seem to disappoint even when we always give them a reason to.

Please don't be blinded by the person you see as the sun that you end up not seeing the stars that surround you. Please know that you are a star too and you shine bright. You may not even see it, but others can. Know that you deserve to be up there, burning brighter than ever. You don't need the person you consider as your sun to validate your beauty because it doesn't matter if he's looking at you or not, you just keep on shining. Please stop looking for love in the wrong places and start to appreciate all the forms of love that surround you. Find solace in the fact that someday you will meet the person who's meant for you, the person who will consider you as the sun that sheds light in all the dark and lonely corners of his heart. That day might not be today, or tomorrow, or even the day after that, but please don't give up. Never stop believing in love because it is in the hoping, the praying, and the waiting that we learn to love ourselves completely. Most importantly, know that Valentine's Day is not about getting love, it is about giving love. And you're in luck because you have so much love to give.
