The Ultimate Roommate Guide
Who says only couples can DTR? Before anything else, you and your roommate should talk about the rules and boundaries of your roommate relationship. Consider each other's likes and dislikes. Would it bother her if your friends come over? Can she sleep with the lights on?Just lay the ground rules. This is an important step to achieve a comfortable living situation.
Golden Rule: Don't go through your roommate's stuff! We know it's too obvious but don't forget to ask for permission before borrowing anything. While it might be tempting to just grab and read the magazine lying on her table, remember that your roommate’s approval is still essential.
In line with #2, always remember to return all the things you have borrowed from your roommate, whether it's that calculator you needed when you were studying for an exam or that LBD she let you borrow for one of your parties. Important note: be responsible and take good care of the stuff you borrowed!
Clean, clean, clean!
Nobody wants a sloppy roommate so do your part and start cleaning your mess. Your roommate would surely appreciate your effort to keep your space neat.
Sharing a room can be tough but the key is to meet halfway. How exactly would you and your roommate do that? Openly discuss any roommate-related problems and try to find a solution that the two of you can agree on. Just remember these two Cs: communicate and compromise.
It can be stressful sometimes but having a roommate is actually very rewarding. Don't forget to have fun with your roommate! If luck is on your side, roommates can turn into friends for life!
