The Secret to Overcoming Laziness

There are days when no matter how much you will yourself to do something that requires work or use of energy, you end up spending the day doing absolutely nothing. And instead of owning up to it, you're quick to blame it on the weather, your sleeping pattern, or whatever that kept you from doing the task, but never your laziness. (via timesnet.ru)

Enter Kaizen, a Japanese term that means "continuous improvement." It comes from the words "kai" which means change, and "zen" which translates to good. When combined, it reads "change for the better." This term was originally invented by Masaaki Imai on his book, Kaizen: The Key to Japan's Competitive Success in 1986.

The trick is to do one thing for one minute every single day at the same exact time. This will get your mind to think that no task is too difficult or too taxing mainly because one minute is just a short amount of time.

Once you get yourself out of bed or convince yourself that it's time to get your butt moving, you'll eventually be inspired to spend more than just 60 seconds doing it. Maybe three more minutes or 30 more minutes...The secret is basically to help you think that the task at hand isn't really intimidating.
