The year is drawing to a close and you're probably rushing off to make last minute preparations for the holidays, such as getting gifts for your friends and family. Hey, why not take a pause and think of yourself for a little while? Here are some of our suggestions for gifts that you can (and totally should) give yourself!

  1. Food, lots and lots of it. It's no secret that the holiday season is a time for sumptuous feasts. For now, let your diet take a backseat. Go ahead and satisfy your craving for lechon, cuddle with a cup of hot chocolate, fill your plate your mom's signature dish. Treat yourself because you more than deserve to.

  2. A good night's sleep. The holidays automatically mean you get a few weeks off from school. Use this time to recharge and spend some time bonding with your beloved bed. This is the best time because no one can judge you for staying in bed past noon. Hey, it's cold and you've been working hard all year, we totes feel you.

  3. Do what you've been wanting to! School and other commitments have probably taken up most of your time this year, but it's not too late to end the year with something you've always wanted to do. During the holiday season, you can take a night (or day) off, tune the world out, and do something for yourself. Stay in bed and read a good book, catch up on your favorite series, or write down your goals for 2015. You can finally create your own relaxation plan and actually make it come true.

  4. Spend time with your loved ones. Your busy schedule may have prevented you from bonding with the special people in your life. Take advantage of this time and finally catch up. Round up your family for a meal you prepared yourself, call up your friends for carolling around your neighborhood—it's all up to you. Give yourself the gift of warmth that only your loved ones can provide.

  5. Make peace. This season, give yourself the gift of peace of mind. Finally talk to that person who hurt you and tell him (or her) your feelings. Better yet, apologize to that someone that you know you have hurt this year. Your year would end better if you're not harboring ill feelings toward other people.

  6. Indulge in some self-love. As the song goes, "learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all." Kidding aside, you deserve to be selfish (all in moderation, of course) this season. Reward yourself for a job well done, for getting through this year, and for having higher hopes for the next year. Self-five!

I'm a Candy Girl because I am a modern day Elle Woods, refusing to be boxed by stereotypes. Liking pink and other girly things does not mean I can’t do things society does not expect of me. I am a Candy girl because having flaws do not limit me from chasing my dreams and standing up for what I believe in. I can showcase my smarts and skills, all while looking my best.
