Because most of us are dealing with slow internet connection, we'll take whatever we can to speed up our browsing a bit, like switching and trying out new web browsers outside of what we're currently using (especially if your Zoom classes are already taking up too much data). Tbh, we're all convinced with the helpful features of Google Chrome, but it wouldn't hurt to try out other browsers to see what will work best for online classes. Now that lessons are in module and video forms, we have to step up our browser game to keep up.

Below are some of the browsers that are student and online class-friendly:

Microsoft Edge

Available for: Windows and MacOS

Microsoft Edge boasts of faster loading time, which makes browsing easier, especially if you’re doing research for your notes or academic requirements. You can also easily import information like passwords and favorites from other browsers if you plan to switch. It also supports a feature called Collections, which lets you keep track of tabs and photos and the internet that you want to save. You also have the option to name the Collection to keep it organized and easy to find.

Firefox allows users to access the Picture-in-Picture feature which lets videos pop out of the window so you can seamless switch from tabs and multi-task. Firefox also claims to block ads which makes a webpage load faster for you. You can also browse using Dark Mode to keep it easy on the eyes while you go through your online classes.

Brave

Available for: Windows and MacOS

If you’re someone who’s wary about unwanted ads and safe surfing on the web, Brave highlights their ad-blocker feature. They also support the use of Tor, which enables anonymous and private browsing. They also claim to load major news sites six times faster than other browsers.

Opera

Available for: Windows and MacOS

Opera is another web browser that features ad-free surfing. It also highlights a more private internet browsing experience with the use of its VPN. You can also organize your tabs into categories using their Workspaces feature, which will come in handy if you're studying for multiple subjects. They also offer the video pop-out feature so you can continue browsing while watching a video.
