Core Belief: Muslims have to follow the five pillars of Islam: “Shahada” (statement of faith), “Salah” (praying daily), “Zakat” (charity to the needy), “Saum” (fasting) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).
Place of Worship: Muslims usually go to the Mosque on Fridays. I often go there with my family or friends to learn and pray. Before we enter the Mosque, we remove our shoes and cleanse ourselves.
Special Holidays: We celebrate Id ul-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan. We pray, give simple gifts, and wish each other good blessings in life. We also celebrate Id ul-Adha which lasts for four days after Hajj. We do this by sharing food with the poor and our loved ones.
Woman of Faith: My personal relationship with God is gradually getting stronger. God is the only Being I can run to and express my true feelings. Without God, I am nothing. Islam is not only a religion, but also a way of life. Faith guides me to be a better person.
Spreading the Word: Whenever I get the chance to share my faith, I try to do it. I’ll never forget the times when some teachers would call me to share something about my faith with my fellow classmates.
