Your first foray into the real-slash-adult world starts with securing your first job's pre-employment requirements. As a welcome of sorts, we came up with a checklist of the necessary documents your employer is most likely to ask you, and some tips to get it done the right way.
SSS Number
Website: www.sss.gov.phÂ
Things you will need:Â
- Accomplished E-1 Form (go here for that!)
- Original/certified true copy and photocopy of any of the following documents:
- Birth Certificate
- Baptismal Certificate
- Passport Driver's License
- PRC Card
- Seaman's Book
How to go about it:Â Download the E-1 Form from the SSS website and fill out all the needed details. Print it out and bring it along with the documents required to an SSS office near you. Once there, follow the office's standard operating procedure.Â
Hack: Show up as early as possible as the lines can go crazy-long. Aside from the important documents, it's also recommended to bring a kit (preferably with biscuits, water, hankie, fan, cellphone, and a power bank) to battle the long wait time with.
NBI Clearance
Website: www.nbi-clearance.com
Things you will need:
- Accomplished clearance form
- Original copy of any two of the following valid IDs:
- Passport
- Voter's ID
- Driver's License
- PRC License
- SSS ID
- GSIS UMID
- Postal ID
- School ID
- TIN ID
- Philhealth ID
- Authenticated Birth Certificate
- Alien Certificate of Registration
- Senior Citizen’s ID
- Previous copy of NBI Clearance
How to go about it:Â Visit the website and sign up for an account. There, you'll be asked to fill out a form, choose a branch, set an appointment (date and time) for your visit, pick your purpose for applying an NBI clearance, pay the fee, and print the form. Once all of those is done, bring the documents needed (printed accomplished form and a valid IDs) to the NBI branch you're scheduled to appear. There you can finish the last two steps of the process: photo and fingerprint scanning and clearance printing.
Hack: Bring as many IDs as possible, preferably the ones with your photo, birth date, and signature on it.Â
Pag-IBIG Membership Identification Number
Website: www.pagibigfundservices.comÂ
Things you will need: None—everything can be done online!
Process:Â Follow the "Membership Registration" procedure in www.pagibigfundservices.com and print the Member's Data Form (MDF) upon completion. Wait for a text message from Pag-IBIG confirming your registration together with your Registration Tracking Number (RTN). After two working days, verify your permanent Pag-IBIG number by texting IDSTAT
Hack: The MDF needs quite a lot of information. Make sure you have all your personal details (TIN, SSS number, Philhealth number, dependents, etc.) written on a sheet of paper to save a lot of time.
Tax Identification Number (TIN)
Website: www.bir.gov.ph
Things you will need:Â None if you're employed or an accomplished e-Reg Form if you're self-employed.Â
Process: If you are employed, getting your TIN should be a job for your employer. If you're self-employed (or you're doing a lot of side hustles!), you can register online by going to BIR's website. Look for "e-Services" and click on it. It should lead you to another page with various links, the first one being "e-Reg." Click on it to register and print the form. Once printed, fill it out and submit it to your designated Revenue District Office (RDO). Pay the fee and secure a copy of your Certificate of Registration (COR) and your own TIN Card.
Hack: e-Reg works best with Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer v5 or higher, so use those browsers to save time!
