Text Overload

You don't want what happened to this teen happen to you. 13-year-old Dena Christofferson was charged almost $5000 for a month's use of her phone-she sent over 10,000 text messages! Insane? Not really.

With shows like Gossip Girl that show teens texting each other 24/7, it's no wonder why you've got your thumbs on your keypads almost as soon as you wake up.

What are you missing out on? Texting, logging on to Friendster, Facebook, or Multiply might seem to be in vogue, but there's nothing like having an old-fashioned slumber party with your true-blue friends right in front of you.

These days, you might find yourself at home on a Friday night, playing "wars" with friends online. When your kabarkada celebrates her birthday, you write on her Wall, shoot her an email, or text her. You even send gifts through the Web. But do you remember when you'd throw a surprise? Bring her breakfast with the rest of your friends and wake her up on her special day?

Emotions are never really fully conveyed through texting. A ü will never really compare to the big wide grin your BFF gives you when you surprise her with your matching charm bracelets. And when you text your boyfriend a ":(" will a "*hug*" make you feel better more than a real hug would?

Sure, texting is a fun and fast way to keep in touch with friends, but don't forget that you are allowed to call each other on the phone, meet up and hang out at each other's houses, or go to the mall to bond. So go ahead, text your BFFs and let them know when your next slumber party is going to be.
