It's official, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has plunged the country into recession as the economy shrank for the second straight quarter. Parents are resorting to online barter to be able to send their children school, and some students are even contemplating taking a break from school altogether.

We all have different challenges to face, and we can't always do it alone. If your family was severely affected by the pandemic, there's no shame in looking for opportunities for scholarships, educational loans, or any sort of financial assistance program to get you through. Below, a list of institutions and online resources which can get you the help you need:

Government agencies

If you're intereested in pursuing a degree in STEM, DOST is offering the S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Program, which "aims to stimulate and entice talented Filipino youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources which can steer the country towards national progress." The deadline for online application is on August 28 for SY 2021.

Ask your school and student council for available scholarships, loan application opportunities, or even flexible payment terms. Several communities have also been collecting gadgets for online learning.

You can also check announcements on Facebook pages like Scholarships PHPhilippine Scholar, as well as groups like CHED Scholarship 2020. You can also try looking for more localized pages: Apply Student Scholarship Philippines, for instance, caters to students in Cebu.
