Kabataan Rep. Sarah Elago Recognized As 'Politician Of The Year' By One Young World
Kabataan Partylist Rep. Sarah Elago is included in five of the world’s most outstanding politicians who received One Young World Politician of the Year award for “the world's most impactful politicians using their positions to create change for young people in their communities and countries."

One Young World is a global forum for young leaders that "identifies, promotes, and connects the world’s most impactful young leaders to create a better world, with more responsible, more effective leadership."

Rep. Elago is known as the principal author of House Bill 4800 or the Comprehensive Free Public Higher Education Act that gives free education for college students. The bill states that "the state shall give priority to education, science and technology, art, culture, and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development."
Aside from free education, the bill also seeks to give out-of-school youths and school drop-outs an opportunity to continue their studies. The bill also creates a special grant that will offer support for financially-disadvantaged students. The Special Grant covers allowance for miscellaneous expenses, books, transportation, etc. Special services, personal assistance, transportation, etc. for students with disabilities are also included in the bill.
Other awardees that are included are Zarifa Ghafari from Afghanistan, Michael Tubbs from the USA, Erik Marquardt from Germany, and Joanah Mamombe from Zimbabwe.
