At only 24 years old, Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) graduate Gian Scottie Javelona already owns tech firm OrangeApps, and has made it to Forbes' "30 Under 30 Asia" list.

Talking to gmanetwork.com, Gian shares that he started programming in high school because he needed to make money. He then took up Computer Engineering in PUP where he was inspired to write a software to make life easier for students in school. "Nag-develop kami ng application where using your phone you could study na, you could take classes, you could answer quizzes, you can do enrollment and you don't need to fall in line for like three to four hours to pay for tuition fees," he shared with GMA.

To do this, he had to hack the school's systems, not to change grades or cheat, but to make students access the app much faster.

He eventually came clean and told his teachers and even the president of the school about what he did. Of course, the school officials weren't thrilled initially, but after a few meetings, the university now subscribes to his app instead of having to do so for different softwares.

Long story short, four other schools in the country are subscribed to his app and he's starting one in Indonesia, too! Talk about making PUP and our country proud!
