This isn't the first time, however, that Dr. Lapides topped a board exam. In a congratulatory post by his fraternity, Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity, it was mentioned that he had also topped the nursing licensure examinations back when he took it in 2011. He got a rating of 88.40 percent, making him the topnotcher out of 37,513 other exam takers who passed.
While enrolled in med school, he doubled as a working student by serving as a staff nurse at the Sentro Oftalmologico Jose Rizal (SOJR) of the Philippine General Hospital. He later on graduated cum laude from med school, even landing in the top 10 of his batch. Now, he is Jommel Garcia Lapides, RN, MD.
The Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity proudly congratulates Brod Jomel G. Lapides, RN, MD ΜΣΦ 2020 for topping the November 2020...

Aside from Lapides, 19 other examinees were among those who garnered the top 10 highest ratings in the November 2020 licensure examinations. One of which was student achiever Tiffany Grace Uy who ranked fifth. Uy was known for having the highest weighted average grade in UP history after World War II.Â
