Pasig City says they have officially allocated P1.3 billion to provide tablets for students and laptops for teachers for the incoming school year. "Hindi tayo dapat tumigil sa trabaho, specifically sa larangan ng edukasyon, dahil sa isang pandemiya," Mayor Vico Sotto said in a statement reported by Inquirer.net.

It was in a Facebook live briefing on June 17 when the mayor revealed that they were able to raise P1.3 billion to help schools and students transition to a distance learning modality, a curriculum wherein the modules aren't entirely dependent on synchronous online classes, and will include home worksheets, readings, and other blended learning methods.

The announcement was made in an effort to encourage parents to enroll their children for the upcoming school year despite financial limitations that were only worsened by the pandemic. "Kailangan po nating makasiguro na hindi tumigil ang pag-aaral ng atin mga kabataan... alam kong magiging mahirap ang susunod na school year, pero mag enroll lang po kayo at tutulungan namin kayo," promised the mayor.
