Sander Severino is the first Filipino to win the International Physically Disabled Chess Association (IPCA) Online Championship.
At the age of eight, Sander was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, a disease that causes progressive loss of muscle mass. The disease made walking harder for him while growing up. But thatĀ didn't stop him from making his family proud, rather it pushed him to play chess among other sports.
"Ang mga problema nandiyan lang para i-solve natin, katulad ng sa chess," SeverinoĀ shares.
After winning the IPCA Online Championship on June 17, Sander believes that differently-abled persons are also capable of bringing honor to our country.
