She's known for being Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 5 winner and the first Filipina to take home the crown, but for a lot of people, Maureen Wroblewitz's claim to fame was when she was bullied by her competitors and still managed to come out as the winner. Needless to say, her story inspired a lot of girls and boys alike. And they all showed up at her meet-and-greet at SM Makati last weekend. We were lucky enough to talk to her about her experience in the competition and ask her for tips on dealing with bullies. Here's what she shared:
- Don't mind your bullies.
"Don't mind them. Mind the people you love, who love you, and support you."
- Don't fight back.
"I'm the type of person who doesn't fight back. I'm very open-minded [so I just think that] there's a reason why they're doing it. I try not to judge people that easily because you don't know why they're doing it and you don't know what's going on in their life. So I just accept what they're saying, like, 'Ok, if that's what you think,' and then I'll leave.
- Focus on yourself
"Don't put too much thought on those who are bullying you and just focus on yourself."
- Don't let them get in your head.
"Don't think of them trying to bring you down to make them feel better. Just think of them and why they're doing it.
As for her advice to Candy Girls, here's what she said:
"There will always be hard times in your life. Just know that they will pass and you should always use them as motivation to really fight and to be stronger as a person. Just know that that will make you a stronger person in the end. Be the better person. Don't engage and fight with them. Always focus on yourself, focus on the positive things, and what you love."
"Always focus on yourself, focus on the positive things, and what you love."
