Madel Lucena, a former flight attendant of Cebu Pacific switched careers to be a medical technologist after she was laid off from her job due to recession. That’s why she pursued a career as a med tech, not just to fulfill her path as a BS Medical Laboratory Science graduate, but also to save lives.
After losing her job, Madel flew back to her hometown in Palawan and she got a call about a hospital hiring a medical technologist. But before accepting the job, she contemplated whether she would accept a risky job to save lives and sacrifice her time with her family, or decline and just go on with her life. Eventually, Madel accepted the job.
"'Yung decision making ko ang tagal but siyempre at the end of the day, it is still my profession. May oath ako na ti-nake na I have to help other people, the community right now."
