We're thankful for the internet for so many reasons, one of which is for bringing us closer to the people we look up to like celebrities and inspiring personalities. But there are days when we just don't understand the kind of power it gives other people, bashers and haters in particular. Case in point, an Instagram user who left a comment on Kiana Valenciano's Instagram photo, spewing hate on her for a ton of ridonculous reasons.
First, she attacks Kiana's song, then likens it to her "panget" face. Second, she orders Kiana to stay away from her own friends, Nadine Lustre and James Reid, and calls her boyfriend Sam Concepcion "jologs." Then she throws in more nasty insults like "fame whore," and tells her to also stay away from another good friend, Lauren Reid.
It's a good thing Kiana isn't one to get easily affected by such things. In fact, she tweeted a screenshot of the comment and said, "Decided to share this with all of you. It really didn't affect me and it truly is a waste of my time, but please don't ever think this is ok," but the tweet has since been deleted.
Instead, Kiana posted a more powerful message saying, "Cyber bullying, or bullying in any form for that matter, should not be tolerated. Again, your words have power. Use them for good."
Facts: It happens every day, Kiana isn't the only one who gets hurtful comments on her posts—some people have it worse. But just because it happens every day doesn't mean it's right. If anything, Kiana's post is a wake-up call for all of us who are slowly starting to think that this is the new normal or that it's just how things work nowadays. It's not and let's try our best to stay woke so it never will be.Â
