As digital natives, the Internet is where we look to whenever we need to know more about a particular thing that interests us. When we want to learn new skills by ourselves, countless tutorials are usually just one YouTube search away.
And for those aspiring to become a journalist one day, did you know that news anchor Kara David has her own YouTube channel complete with pro tips and tutorials on journalism? Kara is known as a journalist for GMA News TV. She's the host of the TV documentary program i-Witness and has written and produced several eye-opening documentaries centered around current relevant issues in the country.
Aside from being a journalist, Kara is also a professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman's Journalism Department, so her YouTube videos serve as free bite-sized lessons from a *real* Journalism prof.
In January 2021, Kara's first tutorial centered on reporting and scriptwriting for TV. Here, she shares insider tips based on her own experience and debunks common misconceptions about industry practices.
She also has a video dedicated to coming up with spiels and standuppers where she shares essential advice she learned from veteran journalist Steve Serna.
And as a huge Swiftie herself, the UP professor integrated her storytelling tips into her analysis of Taylor's "Champagne Problems", one of her favorite songs to listen to. How cool can your professor get?
You can suscribe to Kara's YouTube channel here.
