You might have seen Filipino artist Issa Barte's work on social media and instantly connected with it. A Development Studies graduate from De La Salle University, Issa started an art series online prompted by actual people's emotions and situations in hopes of gradually getting back into making art after putting it off in college. What started as a personal project for Issa blossomed into a community that finds solace in seeing art that speaks to and is inspired by them. Since then, Issa has collaborated with several known brands and personalities in the country.
Aside from her art series, Issa also embarked on a new journey recently—one that involves launching a youth-led NGO called For the Future which hopes to ignite change for a better tomorrow. Part of the group's projects are reforestation, typhoon relief, and providing aid to communities in far-flung areas. A year into operations and they have already caught the attention of Nadine Lustre and beauty brand Bioten, who vowed to help in their initiatives regarding reforestation.
In this episode of Made It, Issa talks about how her passion for art began, how she got back to it after years of setting it aside, and how she's pushing for her advocacies through 'For the Future'.
