There are a lot of things to love about Iloilo, so much so that it was dubbed the Wakanda of the PhilippinesĀ thanks to how they've been handling the COVID-19 pandemic.Ā And while the LGUs definitely played a part, similar to Wakanda, Iloilo is only as good as its people. And this couple proves that innovation can happen just by taking advantage of what's already around you.
Melanie Dilao and Jade JoquinoĀ were both teachers based in Thailand. They flew back to the Philippines for what was initially meant to be a short vacation, but the pandemic and subsequent quarantine forced them to stay in the country.Ā
Because they couldn't return to their jobs as teachers, the two decided to take a leap of faith and finally pursue a different passion: opening a milk tea shop. Learn more about this couple below, as well as their advocacy to support sustainability and local products:
