Nowadays, college students are more proactive when it comes to building their careers and earning money to support themselves. More and more students have started to take on side hustles to generate income for themselves. For college student Aldwin Sebastian Bocala, a Psychology major at City College of Angeles, applying as a fast food service crew at McDonald's is his way of earning extra on the side while working on his college degree. Below, Aldwin shares more about how he ended up getting his part-time job:

You'll need to prepare your resume.

Just like with any other job, you'll need to submit a resume to apply for a part-time service crew position. Aldwin shares he submitted his resumes to branches near him. They will also require you to take an exam that tests how you handle customers. If you pass the exam, you will be invited for an interview so you'd also have to prepare for that.

Additionally, Aldwin was able to apply with the consent of his parents. According to him, the country's labor law permits minors of at least 16 years old to apply for work, given that they work only for a certain number of hours a day.

There are several requirements to submit once accepted.

Once you're accepted for the job, you'll need to submit the following requirements: PAG-IBIG, SSS, and PhilHealth. "It took me almost two days on processing these via online and also visiting their physical offices," Aldwin shares. You'll also need to pass a medical exam, which Aldwin says is critical to the job to verify that you are fit to work as a service crew. You'll also need to acquire the following: Barangay Clearance, Cedula, NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, TIN, and a notarized letter of parental consent for minors.

The good news is that, when you're working as a fast food service crew, the branch will usually ask you for your schedule so they can work around it when assigning you your working hours. Certain fast food chains, like the one Aldwin is working for, also provide free meals for their employees.

Although he isn't allowed to disclose his salary, Aldwin shares that he was able to help out his family and save up a bit for himself thanks to his part-time job. Aldwin says, "Working at an early age gave me a lot of opportunities and experience. I was able to help my father who is currently a tricycle driver to pay our utilities and other bills. I also save money for travels which is a part of rewarding myself after all the hard work I did in studying and working."
