Nothing’s Going Right!
Days like this you wish you hadn’t bothered getting out of bed at all. You’re hit by one frustration after another: You oversleep, you fail three quizzes in a row, you have a huge blow-up with your best friend, your mom orders you to fetch your siblings at the last minute, and now you can’t even chill at Starbucks like you’d hoped. Sigh! The best thing to do is to take a deep breath. That’s right, inhale eight counts, exhale four counts. Really pull in the air through your nose and release tightly through your lips. You’ll feel better for sure, or at least a bit calmer. When it feels like everything’s spinning out of control, what else can you do but breathe? The nice thing about bad days is they do pass. Really. You’ve just got to hang in there.
Candy Tip: Supremely bad days call for a supremely good treat. Go ahead, buy yourself a tiny treat, like a cute purse or a magazine. Or watch a DVD of your favorite romantic comedy flick.
Sweet-as-Sugar
Talk about waking up on the right side of the bed! Some days you can’t help but feel incurably romantic. Romance is one of life’s most thrilling natural highs, so it’s best to make the most of those rose-colored glasses when you have them on. Of course, you’ll want to find “your place”—that special spot you and your guy can enjoy together. A place where you can talk about your dreams, laugh your heads off, just stare at each other all afternoon if you like. Try picnicking in your garden, sipping hot café mochas in a cozy coffee shop, or strolling through the National Museums. Planning these little field trips will let you get to know each other better and make you both feel real special.
Candy Tip: Possible sweet spots: A sports center if you’re both addicted to fitness, a bookstore if you’re both into words, the living room if you both can’t get enough of PlayStation.
