If You Have a Passion for Filmmaking, This Contest Is for You

We know a lot of you are passionate about telling stories and movies. Now, you can finally use your talent and passion to help the Department of Health (DOH) - Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM)'s AIDS Research Group (ARG) help spread AIDS/HIV awareness through STRAINS.

STRAINS is a film exposition that's open to all undergraduate college students in the country to tell stories under the theme HIV Prevention and Awareness Among Young Adults - Getting to Zero. This is part of their advocacy to increase awareness on HIV and AIDS in the youth and to remove stereotypes surrounding this.

How Do I Join?

  1. Choose the category you're joining: short narrative film (10-15 minutes), documentary film (5-10 minutes) or informative commercial (30 seconds to one minute).

  1. Submit the following:
  • Accomplished application form
  • Signed endorsement letter from your SOA/dean or the University President
  • Original script (digital and hard copy)
  • Synopsis
  • Film poster design
  • Film title card
  • The final film (should be in standard video format: H264 codec, HD 1080p, .mov 
    extension file, and audio: stereo LR (-10db))
  • Digital resume of the filmmaker with two recent photos
  • List of the production staff and cast
  1. Place all the requirements in a long brown envelope, labeled with the competition category, the filmmaker's name, the title of the film, and contact details.

  1. Submit your entry to:

REMINDER: You have to submit your entry before October 31!

All winning entries are going to be screened at cinemads during the awarding ceremony. The first prize winner for each category will receive P50,000. The best part? All films will be part of DOH's campaign for HIV and AIDS awareness. Good luck, Candy Girls!
