You will always be the last digit of pi
and I am the second to the last one—
always behind you; close, but, still too far.
We exhaust ourselves in a never-ending chase.
You keep on running after infinity who will never stop for you.
You think you're already close enough to touch her and then she flees again.
You are always on the verge but such proximity is never sufficient.
All you do is run after infinity but she never even looks back.
And I dedicate my enter lifetime running after you but it is never enough.
I never catch up; just on the verge but the verge is never enough.
You don't spare me a single glimpse, not even a chance,
but I will always be watching your back,
just on the verge, but, for me, that's more than enough.
And if you ever decide to be rational and stop chasing after infinity,
I'd stop my tracks at the same time you would;
and in that moment, I'd be second to the last;
you, the last, and already reachable.
