From Our Readers: To the Girl Who Got Left Behind

You were born for greater things. You deserve more.
ART Trixie Ison

I know you've been losing sleep for days, or weeks, or maybe even months now. You've been drowning your pillow with your precious tears. You've probably been having those nightmares, and sometimes, you've probably woken up in the middle of the night just to find yourself crying again.

Your life has changed. A lot. You're not as happy as you were before. You're not in the mood to interact with anyone. You're not living life the way you should.

You keep on blaming yourself. Why? Why has this happened to me? Why me? Where did I go wrong? Was I not enough? Will this ever end?

I understand.

I've been there before, too. I was the girl who always got left behind. The option. The second choice. The rebound. The one who's "not good enough." The one who's "just a friend." I just wanted to be loved, but it never worked out. I even had to lose two of the most amazing friends in the world.

And then I met Him.

You will, too. I can assure you.

After all of those sleepless nights, the pain and misery, I didn't regret a second of it. Why? Because if it weren't for those guys who broke my heart, my life would've been different. I know better now. Because of them, I learned to love myself. You should learn that, too. To be loved, you have to learn to love yourself first.

Why did this happen? Because the world might be a cruel place, darling, but there's so much to learn. Why you? Because God wants you to be strong, to be ready for what's to come, for something greater coming. Where did you go wrong? You gave away love and trust and respect too much, you forgot to save some for yourself. Were you not enough? Yes, you've always been enough, honey, but they couldn't see it. They weren't the ones who should. Will this end? Yes, I promise you. It will.

You're a woman in the making. You are not perfect. Not yet, but you will be. Life's too short to grieve for the things that aren't worthy of your tears. God is watching you right now. You are His daughter, His princess. Jesus didn't die just so you could cry over some guys who used you and left you. You are far more than that.

You were born for greater things. You deserve more. You have no idea how much God has planned for you. So right now, he wants you to empty your heart of any negativity so that you may receive His blessings. Let go now. And never forget to trust, respect, and love yourself.
