Weep, sleep, and cry some more,
before courage taps on your
window pane like birds do
in the early mornings,
to wake you gently from the
nightmare of it all when it knows
it is time to.
Then pick yourself up and feel
your whole body help you do so
as you face the mirror without
the moist of it blinding.
Embrace yourself and say
with a trembling voice,
that this is your world and it is
all yours for now.
The spaces will be filled with you
that no cracks exist to even
let him enter.
Let out a sigh,
know that you will be alright
as promised.
You can lose the music
and the letters, erase the bittersweet
exchange of last text messages
and light a fire to burn the memories
so when these turn into ashes
they will only dissipate;
but darling they will never
be forgotten.
Choose to dwell in them for
a fleeting moment until
they will tire you at night.
No sooner will he hurt you less,
no sooner will he become
just a part of history.
They all say nobody ever wins
at heartbreak, but believe that
you are a warrior and this,
this is something you can fight for.
So wear a smile now and walk farther away,
and cut the strings that keep
you tied up.
It'll take long to move forward
but you'll get there...
you'll get there.
