From Our Readers: Advice for my Future Self

I hope you've learned your lesson. I hope you've learned to cherish the person you love and loves you back instead of pushing him away from yourself. Especially when he tries his best to win your heart over again no matter how stubborn you have been with him.

Because when he realizes he deserves someone better—one who is brave enough to make him feel special and loved—he's going to end up falling in love with her and possibly forget about you. You who have been too much of a coward to show how much you actually love him.

In the end, you're only ever going to regret not being completely genuine with him. Because seeing an unfamiliar girl turn his frown upside-down right in front of your eyes is going to make your stomach twist and not in a good way—and at that exact moment, she'll feel butterflies in her stomach instead.

In the end, you're only ever going to feel jealous of how affectionate they are to each other. The way they hold hands and look in each other's eyes, the way he protects her from any threat, and everything else that they do. All of which is going to make yourself wish that you were rather in her place.

In the end, you're only ever going to keep asking yourself numerous amounts of what ifs but that's all they'll ever be. Sadly.

I hope you've learned your lesson. I've been there and I've done that. And I don't want you to hurt the way I did. Or still am. Especially when I'm left with the thought that he and I both loved each other, it's just that I left him hanging in the middle of everything for being the coward that I am.
