These Dogs Survived The Taal Eruption And Are Looking For A Furever Home
It's only July, but it seems like a lifetime ago when Taal erupted in January 2020, with ashfall reaching the cities of Metro Manila, Rizal, Batangas, Laguna, Bulacan, and Calamba.
Since then, our country has dealt with the longest lockdown in the world, a severe tropical storm which caused over a billion pesos in damages, and the biggest broadcast network in the country's franchise renewal application being rejected by the Congress.
But while it may seem like a lifetime ago from an outsider's perspective, especially as the internet moves on to coverage of recent events, the people of Tagaytay are left to cope with their toughest year yet. Businesses that reopened in February and March were forced to close down again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was only in June 16 when restaurants resumed operations for dine in customers, but at limited capacity, and only after getting the necessary permits.
The call for bayanihan is stronger than ever. There is still a long way to go to recover from this year's crises, and a lot of of ground to cover. Luckily, different groups and institutions are still continuing efforts to help at different capacities.
Lara's Ark, for one, is a shelter that gives a temporary home to animals. They've taken on the initiative to look for a forever home for dogs who survived the eruption. So if you've been looking for a new family member you can take care of (and vice versa), you might want to consider adoption, as many of these adorable creatures are looking for a home and a family just like yours.

Just keep in mind however, that taking care of a new pet is a long-term responsibility, and something you need to prepare for. If you're *truly* ready, you may contact 0915 534 2699, 0917 848 9911, or visit Lara's Ark on Facebook for more information.
To find out how to help the victims of the Taal eruption, you may contact the City Government of Tagaytay at (046)-4131-220, email@example.com, or visit www.tagaytay.gov.ph.
