The roster for artists at Careless Music is steadily growing, and 17 year-old Jolianne Salvado is their newest addition.
This singer-songwriter hailing from Cebu released her newest single “Sublime” with a dream-like music video on March 26, 2021, days after the announcement of her signing with Careless. In a Behind-the-Song video on Jolianne’s Instagram, she said that this track was about “claiming the life of your dreams and turning that into your reality.”
Before this, however, Jolianne actually kickstarted her music career by competing in the second season of The Voice Kids Philippines back in 2011—when she was just eleven years old. For her blind audition, this artist with an angelic voice sang her own rendition of Ariana Grande’s "Tattooed Heart", which wowed both Filipina music icons Sarah Geronimo and Lea Salonga. Salonga described Jolianne’s voice as “effortless, crystal clear, cuts through the air,” and Bamboo actually shared that he regretted not turning his chair around: “After that, I want to kick myself. I like that spirit that you have.” In the end, Jolianne chose to be mentored by pop star royalty Geronimo.

Although Jolianne was defeated during the Battle Rounds in the competition, it was just the beginning of her journey towards becoming the artist she is today. At 12, she composed the song "I Can’t Go On", and at 14, she has shared the stage with multiple famous names in the industry such as Arnel Pineda, Jed Madela, Darren Espanto, Marco Sison, Hadji Alejandro, and international artists such as Air Supply and Stephen Bishop. In 2018, she released a duet version with OPM icon Nonoy Zuñiga of "Pero Atik Ra"—a Visayan pop song in full Cebuano, originally sung by Jacky Chang. Zuñiga described Jolianne as a very talented young lady: “I am really impressed because at the very young age she has a beautiful voice and style.”
It really, really shows in her music, and fans are glad to see Jolianne shine in her debut music video, which the artist said was her dream come true. "Sublime" was actually written by Jolianne herself as well with Bret Jackson from the label.
Today, Jolianne shared that she wants to experiment with genres like alt-pop and alt-R&B, and that she’s actually working on some tracks now. We can’t wait to see where she goes from here.
