We're pretty sure that everyone has downloaded at least one game on their smartphone during quarantine. If you’re familiar with apps like Mobile Legends, Rules of Survival, or Pub G, then you're probably aware of how the players communicate with other gamers around the world. Like in Call of Duty (COD), you can message other players in the app wherever they are.
COD is a first-person shooter video gaming app that you can download on your mobile phone for free. If you're familiar with the old video game Counter-Strike, parang gano'n. The only difference is that COD is available on mobile. Also in this app, you're allowed to invite your friends and random people to play the game with you. It's all fun and games until you accidentally invite your crush to the game.
A viral post on Twitter showed how she met her "Bebe" through the COD app.
na-invite accidentally sa cod noon,bebe ko na ngayon???? pic.twitter.com/Q3ABhdjCNx— nics (@ashamgyupsal) June 10, 2020
According to Nicole Baluyot, 18 years old, the guy she from her tweet is her best friend's relative... but they never talked before until she ~accidentally~ invited him on COD.
"Bored ako no'n kaya I decided to download a game na barilan po, gano'n. Then Call of Duty 'yung [na] download ko. Hindi talaga ako nag o-online games kaya 'di ko alam ano mga napipindot ko do'n. Since naka-connect po siya sa may Facebook ko and mutual friends kami ni Daniel, accidentally ko po siya na-invite."
Daniel accepted the request immediately and they started playing and chatting. Later that night, Daniel PM-ed her on Messenger, where he and Nicole had their very first *real* conversation (despite meeting in February, they were only casual acquantances and barely even friends).
"That night din po nagchat na siya sa Messenger and ayun po 'yung unang beses namin nag-usap kahit kilala na namin isa’t-isa. Magkakilala po kami before pero hindi po kami nag-usap n'on."
Eventually, they both admitted that they've had a crush on each other even before they played together!
"Nung time po na nagkita na kami in person, crush na namin talaga isa't-isa pero nung nakalaro ko lang po siya kami nagkaroon ng communication."
Through the gaming app, Nicole and Daniel got the chance to get to know each other without too much pressure. In June, they finally saw each other for the first time after their COD meet-cute. They haven't seen each other again since, but they talk regularly to fight the distance. According to Nicole, she still needs to introduce him to her family first before they make it official.
For now, COD's battlefield will be their *date* location... and we know it's going to be fun.
