Growing up, many of us had to deal with strict parents. It's just a normal part of our lives! To what extent, however, usually varies from family to family. But one thing we know for sure is Pinoy parents are the ~strictest~ when it comes to prioritizing our education above all else, to the point where some of us turn to making *deals* with our parents about when we can start to have official boyfriends or girlfriends.
Maidy Santos, a 21-year-old B.S. Architecture graduate from UP Diliman who, like us, has strict parents, made a deal with her mom that she wouldn't have a boyfriend until she graduated from college. Wow, we feel you!
And when her mom finally agreed that she could finally have a boyfriend, she tweeted an announcement as a joke, addressed to those who might want to court her. In the tweet, she encouraged them to send their resumes and portfolios to her email.
And guess what! Someone really sent her a Boyfriend Application email that includes the guy’s cover letter and curriculum vitae. OMG!
You would think stuff like this only happened in Wattpad, but we tell you, it’s ~REAL~
Look at this cover letter he wrote for her. So cute!
Her manliligaw, who is now her boyfriend, is also from UPD, taking his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is set to graduate this year. Talk about good things coming to those who wait.
Like many of us, Maidy also followed her parents’ wish to wait until the right time to finally meet and date someone. Of course, at the end of the day, no one can decide for you, so remember to always listen to your heart, and do what feels right.
It might take a long time, but your day will come when you can finally scream “Sabi ni mama puwede na ako mag boyfriend!!!!!” as loudly as you can, just like Maidy. ;)
