Becoming a lawyer is a dream for many, but the journey proves to be a challenge. Which is why it’s best to start preparing for the law school life years before. There are many things you need to prepare for if you want to make it out of law school, just ask a few of the country's well-known lawyers.

If you’re keen on become one, you might already be curious about which schools you can apply to. There are several law schools that offer quality education scattered across the country. If you’re looking for options, here are some of the top law schools in the country, according to the Legal Education Board’s rankings throughout the years.  

Ateneo de Davao University

Location: Davao City, Davao del Sur

In 2018, Ateneo de Davao University ranked third in the Legal Education Board’s ranking of law schools in the bar examinations, with a passing rate of 83.33 percent. They were also considered as one of the best performing law schools in the country back in 2015, with a cumulative passing rate of 53.02 percent.

Ateneo de Manila University

Location: Makati City, Metro Manila

In 2018, Ateneo de Manila University topped the rankings of the Legal Education Board, with a passing rate of 88.76 percent. Out of 178 examinees from the university, 158 passed the bar examinations. In 2015, Ateneo was also among the top-ranking law schools with a cumulative passing rate of 67.55 percent.

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila

Location: Intramuros, Manila

The school ranked 16th in 2018, with a 54.55 percent passing rate. In 2016, they were also recognized by the Legal Education Board as one of the top law schools nationwide for having a 100 percent passing rate in the bar examinations.

San Beda College - Manila

Location: Mendiola, Manila

In 2016, San Beda received a passing rate of 72.75 percent with 127 passers out of 177 exam takers. This put the school in the sixth spot in the 2018 rankings.

University of San Carlos

Location: Cebu City, Cebu

University of San Carlos took the fourth rank in the Legal Education Board’s rankings in 2018, with a passing rate of 77.91 percent. They were also among the top performing institutions for law in 2015, with a cumulative passing rate of 58 percent.

University of Santo Tomas

Location: Sampaloc, Manila

University of Santo Tomas received a passing rate of 71.43 percent in the 2018 rankings of the Legal Education Board. This puts them at the seventh spot. In 2015, they were also recognized as one of the top schools that performed in the bar examinations, with a passing rate of 43.98 percent.

University of the Philippines

Location: Quezon City, Metro Manila

In 2018, UP ranked second in the Legal Education Board’s ranking of law schools in the bar examinations, with a passing rate of 86.67 percent. UP was also among the top perfoming law schools in 2015 with a cumulative passing rate of 73.71 percent.

Xavier University

Location: Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental

Taking the fifth spot in the 2018 rankings of the Legal Education Board, Xavier University garnered a passing rate of 75.86 percent. They also made it to LEP’s top 10 best law schools ranking in 2015, with a cumulative passing rate of 32.20 percent.
