The summer semester for Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) is set to begin in April. But given the COVID-19 situation of the country, university activities—from enrolment to classes—have shifted to online platforms.

Enrolment for Summer 2020 is done online through the Student Information System (SIS) where students can enlist in courses they need to take and pay for tuition via e-banking or through easily accessible payment centers. Faculty members have also been trained to conduct and monitor classes via Google Classroom and Moodle.

To aid students who do not have access to the necessary resources for online learning, AdDU took the initiative to provide a limited number of Apple iPad units for the semester, free of charge, giving priority to financially challenged students and scholars.

AdDU has also set up computer loans with easy payment schemes for other students who might need access to laptops, desktops, or tablets for online classes, according to Executive Vice President Jeremy S. Eliab. In a press release issued by the university, EVP Eliab also addressed the problem of WiFi access, “Students will be provided with Home Prepaid WiFi units that will allow wireless Internet connection to facilitate learning and student-teacher interaction.”
