Surviving a long-distance relationship (LDR) is hard, but surviving it while in quarantine is harder. Luckily, Candy Rookie Thea Cuaresma has tips for you, as she and her SO have tried different ways to make their relationship work.
Thea’s boyfriend is currently enrolled in a university in Thailand and visits the Philippines every summer. She met him at UST in 2018 where they became friends first. In 2019, he found a better opportunity in Thailand so he decided to leave and transfer schools there. Little did they know that the distance would only bring them closer together. Thea and her boyfie started dating by December 2019 and went official in May this year. Aww!
Like every other LDR, the couple communicates through video calls, apps, and social media. They were supposed to see each other this summer but the lockdown made it impossible for them to reunite. But that didn’t stop them from spending their time together—virtually.
Below, Thea shares some tips that you and your jowa or even your family and friends can use to connect while physically apart:
Virtual game nights with the Houseparty app
Houseparty is a social networking service that allows you to have a video chat with your friends while playing built-in games like Finish The Lyrics, Chips and Guac, Heads Up, and charades-like games in the app. It is available on mobile and desktop.
Watch movies and videos together using the Rave app
This is a new app that lets you stream videos and movies together. You can also talk to your friends while watching! It's like you're having movie night but ~apart~.
Rave is available in the App Store and Google Play.
Make him a Spotify playlist
Having a playlist dedicated to you is really sweet and *ultragoals*, so make your special someone feel they're loved and appreciated even from afar. Download the Spotify app and make a playlist for them to know how you really ~feel~
Make a sky map of constellations from your respective locations
The Night Sky app lets you create a custom star map of your chosen location or date. Through this app, you'll know how the night sky looks like at special moments in your life. Like when you had your first kiss, the day you were born, or the time that you met your special someone.
You can create your own star map through mobile or desktop. Just put the date and location then add a message or title to your map and voila! You can download it or print it and put it in a frame then send it to your boyfriend or girlfriend. So thoughtful!
