The Philippines may be the most divided it has been in terms of political views, but what happened at a baggage check-in for a flight to Davao only proves that no kind of divide can stop Filipinos from helping one another—no questions asked.

Proof of this is in Facebook user Inday Rakel's post. She was on queue at the airport headed to Davao when she noticed three men ahead of her having trouble checking in their baggage. Apparently, one of them had an excess of 7 kgs. To avoid paying an additional fee, the men moved to the side to rearrange their stuff in the hopes of lightening their load, but to no avail.

It was then that Inday Rakel saw that the bulk of their baggage were combat uniforms. She began chatting them up and found out that they were soldiers. Two of them were headed to Marawi and the other one, to Cotabato.

With this information, she was determined to convince the manager on duty of the airline company to waive the fee for the excess baggage. But before she could put her plans into action, a lot of the passengers already volunteered to carry the soldiers' things in whatever extra baggage allowance they had. Even she got to help out—her extra 2 kgs were enough to carry the pair of shoes one soldier had.

For her, her small act of kindness was a big "thank you" to the soldiers who are fighting a bigger battle. After all, these soldiers are risking their lives for our country and the Filipino people.
