After skipping last year's competition due to a knee injury, Desiree Cheng made a comeback by helping the De La Salle University Lady Spikers take home the crown at the UAAP Season 79 Women's Volleyball Championship. With her impressive performance, we weren't surprised she bagged the Finals Most Valuable Player award and we have no doubts we'll be seeing more of her in the future. For starters, here are the things you need to know about DLSU's outside hitter.
- She has so much respect for Kim Fajardo.
She once posted about how honored she was to be coached by DLSU's volleyball team captain.
- Ernie Tiamzon is one of her bestest buds on the team.
They call each other Booti.
- She's admittedly a Daddy's Girl.
She has several posts with the hashtag #ForeverDaddysGirl on her Instagram.
- She has two siblings.
She's the youngest and has an achi and an ahia. The three of them have a close relationship.
- She recently changed her jersey number because of her sister.
She said it was a lucky number because it was what her sister used when she and the DLSU-CSB team won the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship last year.
- She's a K-drama addict.
So is her sister, who captioned one of her posts, "The only thing that makes my heart flutter (of course except for K-Dramas and Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Gum and Lee Jong Suk and Ji Chang Wook and Kim Hyun Joong and...... *laughing emoji*).
- She loves cupcakes!
She and her siblings accepted homemade cupcake orders last Christmas.
- She loves the water.
Whether it's the beach, pool, river, or falls.
- She has a guy best friend.
They call each other "bez," but her fans think they should be more than just friends.
