Nobody's perfect. So why do some of us feel that way, while other people don't let imperfection cramp their style? Simple. They're perfectly happy just the way they are—and you should be, too! Here's how.

  1. Be Active.

Research shows that people who work out are usually in a better mood than couch potatoes, thanks to endorphins (a.k.a. your happy hormones) which are released in your body when you workout!

  1. Be Sweeter.

Indulge your sweet tooth. Studies show that eating something that contains sugar will raise your serotonin levels, which gives you a mood lift.

  1. Believe…

...that no matter how bad a situation looks, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. The best way to get into a positive frame of mind? Stop worrying and start praying. Thank God for (fill in your blessings here) and trust Him to help you find a solution.

  1. Be Tangeriffic!

The color orange is said to have a very happy effect on people, so wear a tangerine tank top or accessory when you're feeling blue.

  1. Be Positive!

Learn the power of affirmation. Nix mega-negative statements like: "I'm so stupid" or "I'll never get things right." Instead, replace them with positive mantras like "I'm a terrific friend" or "I attract great opportunities everywhere I go." It really works, try it!

  1. Be Inspired.

Do something that lights you up—whether it's cooking or kickboxing. "When we feel happy, we are more willing to help others," notes David G. Meyers in his textbook Exploring Psychology. He adds that a mood-boosting experience makes people more likely to give money, pick up someone's dropped papers, and volunteer time for worthy causes. It's called the "feel-good, do-good phenomenon."
