Being an incoming college freshman is equal parts exciting and nerve-racking. It shows a lot of promise, but at the same time, it also presents many challenges, which is why I'm sharing with you some reminders that I wish I knew when I was a freshman three years ago.

College is all about chances.

Chances to meet new people, to expand your knowledge, and to get to know yourself better. Of course, with these chances, there would also be challenges. But that's okay, you'll get through it because you are tough. Those challenges would eventually pass, and then it would make you realize that it isn't as hard as you thought it would be. That's why I'm telling you, don't be afraid.

Don't be afraid.

In the coming years, there will be so many chances you'll miss because you're too afraid to be out of your comfort zone. You'll be afraid of how people would see you, and you'll be afraid to fail and become a disappointment. But you'll be okay.

Stop doubting yourself.

It would also help if you stop doubting yourself. The road to achieving your dreams won't be easy, but don't let that stop you from going after it.

Take the opportunities that come your way!

It might be scary, but you have to remember that you always have people behind your back. Your friends and family will be your constant support, and you to them. You might get hurt, get mad, or cry, but after every obstacle, you'll be stronger and smarter than ever.

Don't be hard on yourself.

College will make you see different sides of you. You might even be shocked to know how much potential you have. It may seem hard to find something good about yourself right now, but take it easy. Loving yourself is a continuous process and doesn't happen overnight. Overtime, you'll  eventually see that.

Just do it.

As said by Carrie Fisher herself, "Stay afraid. But do it anyway."
