High school is the time of our lives where we discover who we are, and who we aspire to be. Needless to say the road will be tough for any high school student, especially in balancing the three Ss: studies, social life, and sleep. But then again, the experiences gained from all those could just be worth it. Unfortunately, high school doesn't last forever; it's time to get out of that little shell of yours, and go after the opportunities! Whether it's a school program or activity, get engaged! Try out for the varsity team or audition for the school play—you'll never know what you can gain from the experiences you'll make! Here is a list of common activities and programs in high school you might want to explore.
- The Student Council
Being part of the student council means having the confidence to serve as the voice of the student body. Along with a team of student-leaders, you'll come across many new experiences, such as meeting new people and organizing the school's events.
- Mister and Miss Intramurals
Are you confidently beautiful with a heart? Showcase your inner Pia Wurtzbach and audition for the Mister and Miss Intrams! Intrams are usually held every school year, wherein batches are to compete with each other in a variety of sports. The attention grabber in the midst of our games would be the Mister and Miss Intrams. These beautiful and handsome pairs represent their respective batch as well as promote the beauty of sportsmanship in our games.
- Varsity
Just the idea of being a varsity is already a load of hard work and dedication to put into. Nevertheless, joining the varsity team will open many opportunities and new experiences, such as meeting new people in different schools and getting scholarships in colleges. Moreover, being varsity develops you into having a strong mind and character. The rigorous training and work will surely influence you to have a competitive and winning attitude.
- Scouting Movement
Are you ready to serve the school community? Then join the scouting movement! The mission of this movement is to train you to become disciplined and responsible in servicing others. Likewise, you'll be involved in many outside-school activities, such as helping the local community and outreach programs.
- School clubs
There are times school can be tiring, and some of us would simply like to spend time engaging in extracurricular activities. Hence, signing up in school clubs could possibly be the answer. So besides academics, you'll get to explore your hobbies as well. Remember to choose a club that suits your interest, one in which you can also develop your skills.
- Sign up for volunteer programs
Devote yourself to the community around you and sign up for volunteer programs, such as tree planting, outreach programs and many more. As you volunteer to help out the local community, you'll come across meeting new people in different areas and be more aware of its surroundings.
So what are you waiting for? Start now and make new experiences while you're still in high school! But remember to also manage your time wisely. Aside from joining extracurricular activities, our academics are also important, that is why you have to make sure you can manage them both at the same time so you won't stress yourself out.
Let's live while we're young, high schoolers!Â
