Mom says: There are more productive ways to spend your time than talking on the phone.
You say: I spend my time more productively when I’m talking on the phone.
The Candy way:
You can talk about today’s physics homework, Blair’s skirt in last night’s episode of Gossip Girl, and tomorrow’s trig test when you’re on the phone with your best friend—while looking through your closet for the jeans you want to wear on your movie date next Saturday. How’s that for multi-tasking? Unfortunately, not all moms appreciate this typical teen ability. Ask Mom if you can make her a deal. Aside from making sure you’re done with homework before starting any marathon phone sessions, you could promise to help your younger brother with his homework every other day in exchange for uninterrupted calling privileges, plus promise that you’ll put down the phone pronto if someone else needs it. If you’ve got other sibs who like burning the phone lines as much as you do, work out a schedule. Your older sis can gab away while you’re watching Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, and you can have your turn with the cordless when she’s watching C.S.I. Either way, find out if anyone’s expecting a phone call before picking up to punch in your best bud’s digits.
