Katipunan has changed so much in just the last few years. The emergence of new and shiny commercial spaces has definitely made life in this collegiate neighborhood more exciting. While spending your free time inside the Ateneo campus won't disappoint (thanks to all the areas ideal for chilling, studying, and eating), hanging out at nearby establishments could be a fun and well-deserved break.

Are you new around campus or are still unfamiliar with what the Katipunan area has to offer? Grab your girl friends, or your bae, and hit these joints that come highly recommended, for starters.

Oldie but goodie: Xocolat

172 B. Gonzales St., Loyola Heights, Quezon City

X marks the (sweet) spot. Xocolat is a tried and tested neighborhood cafe that provides a homey and welcoming ambiance. Here, chocolate creations are the star. The house-turned-cafe can accommodate solo diners if you're looking for a quiet spot to read your book, as well as big groups for a relaxed hangout.
