3 Winning Moments in Miss U That Were Bigger Than the Crown
Another historic event happened at the Miss Universe pageant, not only because a new queen was crowned, but also because more than the glitz and glam, it served as an avenue to showcase far more important things to the people all over the world who have been following and watching the contest. Below are three of them.
- Self-love and body-positivity.
Even if Miss Universe Canada Siera Bearchell didn't make it to the Top 6, we're sure that her message of self-love and body-positivity was heard around the entire universe loud and clear. Below is one of her many empowering posts on her Facebook account.
- Happiness for others.
Miss Universe Haiti Raquel Pelissier's answer to the Top 3 Q&A round was pretty solid and we were all convinced that she was going home with the crown. But when the announcement was made and it was revealed that Miss Universe France Iris Mittenaere is the new Miss Universe, we didn't see any trace of disappointment on Miss Haiti's face. If anything, she looked genuinely happy for Miss France.
If there's anyone who understands the pressure Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina has been through, it's none other than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach herself. Which is probably why, as explained in an Instagram photo that Candy Cutie Richard Juan snapped, "she took the initiative to actually look for Maxine in the sea of girls just to hug her and (probably) tell her everything will be okay." We could only hope that Maxine felt the love and understanding we all wanted her to know through that hug.
