Remember when you were younger and all you needed in a dark room, where things go bump in the night, was your favorite plush toy? When you gave it a quick squeeze, everything would be alright. Just imagine how comforting it would be for a child who has just lost their home, possibly their parents or sibling, to hug a teddy bear in this time of grief? Imagine how much it would mean to these children displaced in Samar, Leyte, Cebu, and other cities in the Visayas region affected by typhoon Yolanda?
1000 Bearhugs is a heartwarming toy drive campaign whose mission is to bring bears and plushies to children displaced by conflict or disaster. They collect both new and clean pre-loved toys.
If you want to know where you can drop of your stuffed toys, there's a directory you can check online. Stuffed toys must be huggable size for 3-12 year-old children. The drive will be ongoing till December 8. Help comfort to a child by donating your plushies that made you feel safe at a time when you too were scared. You'll be helping these children a great deal!
